"Between The Toes" - Advanced Nursing Foot Care
Putting your Health First
Questions to ask your foot care provider???
Having your feet assessed and treated by a foot care provider can be very relaxing and rewarding.  Things you need to know before you put your feet in just anyone's hands.
  • Ensure that the provider you choose is in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.  You can easily check their status by going on the College of Nurses of Ontario website and click on the link "find a nurse".
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions.  Your foot care provider should be using top quality tools which can be properly sterilized.  Using poor quality tools can lead to infections if the tools break down or can not be properly sterilized.  Tools purchased at a reputable provider is necessary.  The local dollar store is not an appropriate provider.
  • Chemical sterilization or the use of an autoclave are required to properly sterilize the tools.  Tools should never be shared or come in contact with clean tools.  This even means nail polish.
  • Your foot care provider should be up to date with the latest infection control standards put in place by the Ministry of Health.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for references.  Word of mouth will travel fast.
Put your health first and make an informed decision on your foot care provider.
